Combos

In FEXL, combos are generally universal across the cast with some exceptions. As mentioned in the attacks section, the cast share a lot of normals so a good portion of what you pick up in this section will be transferable.

Combos are pretty quick in FEXL aside from some juggle combos. The pace of combos are similar to a mix of The King of Fighters and Street Fighter, simple to start, effective, and quick. FEXL is not a anime level combo game until you explore the juggle system.

To break the ice, universally most of the cast can link crouch medium punch x2 into crouch medium kick after a dash then confirm into a special then super. As for chains you want to generally end in a special cancellable normal (usually it's crouch heavy punch) if not you can super cancel.
